‘Battle Of Brothers’ Claims Prince William And Prince Harry’s Feud Started Way Before Meghan Markle

Robert Lacey is a historian, royal biographer, and a consultant to the Netflix series The Crown, and his latest bombshell book on the Royal Family has teed them off before it’s even been released.

It’s called Battle Of Brothers and dissects in detail the reported battle between Prince William and Prince Harry.

“They took fright over the title, probably,” says Robert, whose 1977 biography of Queen Elizabeth is considered to be the definitive version of her life. “Some say, ‘Oh, it doesn’t matter. It will blow over.’”

But many, like Robert, think that the rift between the brothers has already caused serious damage and could bring lasting harm to the monarchy.

Beginning tomorrow The Mail will print excerpts from the book and those snippets promise to be as explosive and divisive as the Finding Freedom excerpts. The book examines the very beginning of the brothers’ lives and looks at their marriages as well.

But unlike Finding Freedom, this book is not a love letter written by royal fans, it is an authoritative tome written by a former investigative journalist.

How dangerous Is Prince Harry And William’s Reported Feud?

Of Finding Freedom Robert says, “It is very much written in the old-fashioned adulatory style of royal eulogy.” Like many, he believes Harry and Meghan Markle was very much involved in the creation of the book, “Well, put it this way, there are some descriptions that could only have come from the lips of Harry or Meghan.” A judge recently decided the very same thing, when he allowed the book to be used as defense evidence in the lawsuit Meghan is waging against a UK tabloid.

The book has some major surprises in it, for instance, the beef between the brothers happened earlier than we think. Because of Robert’s reputation he had access to insiders, “there was no shortage of people who did want to talk because this is an issue there is huge concern about,” he said.

Robert states, “The idea of our modern royalty was built on the idea of these two brothers … What you’ve got to realize is that the whole strategy of the monarchy was based on them sticking together. Meghan changed all that. She is difficult. She has an incredible and dangerous level of self-belief.”

And he had this surprising thing to say that may support what many consider to be Harry’s reckless behavior: “But the Palace got this very wrong, as it always does with the second-born. They always treat the second-born badly, not to say cruelly. It happened with Princess Margaret. It happened with Prince Andrew. It’s the classic heir and the spare thing. They just don’t know what to do with the spare. And they certainly didn’t know what to do with the spare’s wife.”
