British royal family news reveals that Prince William lays awake at night thinking about nothing specific, but the Duke of Cambridge is taking action to eliminate his insomnia for good—and for the greater good.
Climate change is bothering the Royal Family’s Prince William who says that he thinks global leaders and politicians need to act faster to combat the negative effects of climate change.
“It’s important to understand the history and the past, to be able to kind of carve out and plan for the future. We are where we are because of what’s gone before us,” William said in a recent podcast.
Prince William is “outraged by the inaction” of world leaders and politicians when it comes to climate change
William participated in a recent podcast with environmental activists saying he is, “outraged by the inaction. That is what I get most troubled about, especially as I am in a position of responsibility if you like, or leadership.”
He added that he feels he can do much more about the situation if given the opportunity. At this time however the situation, “really upsets me and keeps me awake at night.”
William appeared on the Outrage + Optimism podcast with Christiana Figueres, a former UN official. She managed the delivery of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in 2015 and she is a member of the prince’s Earthshot Prize panel.
British Royal Family News: Prince William Has Launched The Earthshot Prize As A Way Of Encouraging Activism
The Earthshot Prize debuts on November 1, and individuals, communities, businesses, and organizations are eligible to win one of the prizes valued at a million dollars. The first five winners will be announced in London in the fall of 2021. The announcement will occur before the COP26 negotiations in which countries announce their projects tied to cutting carbon emissions under the Paris Agreement.
William wants the Earthshot Prize to encourage people to find solutions to protect the natural environment and manage its resources. “It’s about highlighting and raising people’s voices and genuine, tangible solutions to some of the hardest environmental problems to face,” he said. “And if we can do that and elevate these people’s become household names, these solutions become household solutions, then we feel we’ve brought in an added dimension to the debates.”
William is following in the footsteps of his father Prince Charles and grandfather Prince Philip who are vocal conservationists.
