The countdown is officially on! Fans are two weeks away from the historic debut of Beyond the Gates (BTG), the first soap opera to debut on television in over 25 years, as well as the first-ever one-hour Black-centric daytime drama!
There’s a buzz like nothing else on social media, and recently, BTG co-stars Colby Muhammad (Katherine “Kat” Richardson) and Brandon Claybon (Martin Richard) hopped on Instagram to not only celebrate their sibling status but also the show’s upcoming premiere.
Muhammad & Claybon’s Adorable Rendition Of, “I’ve Always Wanted A Brother”
Muhammad and Claybon both posted a cute lip-sync video on their Instagram handles of the song, ‘I’ve Always Wanted A Brother’ from the recent Disney hit, Mufasa: The Lion King. As Muhammad aggressively sings the song, while Claybon playfully tries to keep her from bombarding the screen, the words, “POV: Kat and Martin Richardson” and then “Catch us on Beyond the Gates Feb. 24th!!” flash across the screen.
Of course, the two co-stars look like they’ve bonded nicely, playing brother and sister duo, Kat and Martin Richardson, (hence, the song). The characters are both offspring of Ted Richardson (Maurice Johnson) and Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnée Duplaix).
The caption of the IG video read, “Congressman, get your little sister!! Tag which brother, cousin, grandparent, or friend you’ll be watching #BeyondTheGates with! ❤️Catch the #RichardsonSiblings starting Feb 24th Monday-Friday at 2pm EST on #BeyondtheGates!!”
Sharing The Excitement
The adorable video was reposted by both Shiela Ducksworth, BTG’s executive producer and president of CBS Studios/NAACP venture, and Michele Val Jean, the show’s creator on the social media platform, X, as they shared in the excitement of the sudsy colleagues.
Sheila wrote in her X post, “There go them Richardson kids!” while Val Jean’s repost of the video stated, “2 weeks, y’all! Let’s goooo!”
Viewers can catch the Richardson kids, along with all the other larger-than-life personalities from Fairmont Crest, when BTG debuts on Monday, February 24 at 2 p.m. ET, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+, after the fact.
