‘Beyond The Gates’ Comings & Goings Jan 5-9: Leading Man Off Contract – Gal Pal Returns

Beyond the Gates spoilers indicate some bombshells during the week of January 5-9, plus a flurry of casting activity to report! Who’s coming and who’s going on the CBS soap over the next five days and “beyond”? Read more below.

Ben Gavin Off Contract

According to Liberty City on the social media platform X, Ben Gavin, who plays firefighter Derek Baldwin, is off contract with the CBS soap. This, as per the closing credits from the Friday, January 2 episode, which also marked the official debut of Season 2.

Derek was in a “vanilla” romance with nurse, Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob), and the two broke up, only to reunite.

With that said, when Derek lied about his progress in rehab after his accident, Ashley left him, and these two are never, ever getting back together (well, for now).

It sounds like Gavin has been dropped down to recurring status with the show, which isn’t a good thing, but might not necessarily mean he’s leaving the daytime drama, either.

Many recurring players in the land of soaps still play key roles in storylines, so only time will tell. Still, as BTG dropped its Season 2 promo video, and Ashley is shown getting close to Jordi Vilasuso’s new character, Gavin’s status with the show is very up in the air.

Young Love Problems

Tyrell Richardson’s (Jaden Lucas Miller) girlfriend, Jessica, played by Camryn Jade, will once again reappear on the soap this week, during the Tuesday, January 6 episode.

It sounds like the twosome will need to get over a relationship hurdle, so whatever this is about will have Tyrell acting very odd.

In fact, he will clash with his grandmother, Nicole Dupree (Daphnee Duplaix), over a family event, which is unlike the two of them. Jessica is a very nice girl, so will she cause problems for Tyrell, and why?

In other news, fans can expect to see Detective Marcel Malone, played by Darryl W. Handy, back on the show this week as he gets closer to Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant).
