Beyond The Gates Fans Start Petition For Maurice Johnson

Beyond the Gates spoilers suggest that despite the soap only being on the air for only a couple of months, the show recently announced its first recast!

As it stands, while actor Maurice Johnson originated the role of Ted Richardson, Keith D. Robinson will step into the part soon.

Recast news can always be a challenge for fans to accept, which makes it interesting that viewers of the new daytime drama have launched a petition.

The Petition To Save Maurice Johnson

The petition was started on March 24, 2025, on Change.org, and is addressed to CBS Entertainment.

The title of the petition is, ‘Save Maurice Johnson’s Role as Dr. Ted Richardson on Beyond the Gates’. As of this writing, there were over 900 signatures.

The description under the petition notes that as an esteemed actor, Maurice Johnson’s portrayal of Ted Richardson on Beyond the Gates has “… brought depth and richness to the series since its inception.”

It goes on to say, “Despite this, CBS and the production of ‘Beyond the Gates’ have decided to recast his character with another actor. As ardent fans of Maurice Johnson and his work, this decision has left us disappointed and upset.”

The description also states, “This petition aims to rally public support to fight this unjust decision. We stand firmly against the recasting and want Maurice Johnson to continue lighting up our screens as Dr. Ted Richardson.”

Maurice Johnson’s Exit

It’s unclear when exactly Johnson will exit the role; however, Keith D. Robinson is slated to step into the canvas at some point in May.

As the soap films mere weeks ahead of broadcast, it’s likely that Robinson is already shooting scenes as Ted Richardson at this point.

Ted has become a pivotal player in the land of Fairmont Crest, locked in a solid storyline that has former lover Dana “Leslie” Thomas (Trish Mann-Grant) looking to blow up his marriage with Nicole Richardson (Daphnée Duplaix).
