Beyond The Gates Launches Contest For Georgia HBCU Students – Chance To Score Non-Speaking Walk-On RoleBeyond the Gates executive producers Derrick Johnson (president and CEO of the NAACP) and
Sheila Ducksworth (president of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture) recently announced an interesting contest on the cusp of the show’s groundbreaking premiere.
Students enrolled at participating historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the state of Georgia can enter the contest to score a non-speaking walk-on role in the new soap, which films in Atlanta.

Not only is Beyond the Gates making history as the first soap to debut in over 25 years, but as it is a joint venture between CBS Studios and NAACP the show will also be the first one-hour Black-centric daytime drama.

More On The Contest

Georgia HBCU students are eligible can enter this contest as of Monday, Feb. 24 at 2:00 PM, ET through Friday, March 21 at 11:59 PM, ET via a website that will be determined in the weeks ahead.

Those interested need to stay tuned to the soap’s TikTok and Instagram handles (@BeyondTheGatesCBS) for more information.

It’s important to note that a list of participating HBCUs and eligibility requirements will be released at the start of the contest.

Contestants will be asked to take a brief quiz about the new daytime drama and submit a video revealing what they like about the soap and what it would mean for them to win this Beyond the Gates role.

Acting training or experience is not required. Beyond the Gates executive producers are in charge of choosing a winner, and the role will appear at some point during a show in the 2025 season.

Sheila Ducksworth On The Reason Behind This Contest

Beyond the Gates Executive Producer, Sheila Ducksworth talked about the “why” behind the contest, stating, “In addition to launching a groundbreaking series, we, and CBS, wanted to offer an aspirational experience for a young adult interested in exploring all things TV.”

She added, “We also wanted to pay homage to HBCUs – which have been a guiding force for students, families, and communities for almost 200 years — and also thank Georgia for availing so many resources to us for the creation of Beyond the Gates.”

The soap is set to debut on Monday, February 24 at 2 p.m. ET on CBS, and will be available on Paramount+, as well.
