Beyond The Gates’ Marquita Goings Talks Hayley’s End Game, When She Found Out About The Character’s “Dark Turn”

Beyond the Gates spoilers indicate that fans were slightly shocked about learning how dark Hayley Hamilton is, but no one was more surprised than her portrayer, Marquita Goings. The actress recently talked to Soap.com about Hayley’s endgame and when she found out about her “real” plan.

Marquita Goings Was In The Dark, Too

Goings tells Soaps.com that she had no idea that her character was a schemer at the beginning of the show; however, producers did give her a hint during a scene she had with Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree).

Goings had Hayley “snap” at Dani, which is when the producers noted, “No, no, don’t do that. Continue to play her the way you have been.” Marquita questioned, “Why?” and they replied that Hayley will shift; however, Goings didn’t know to what degree.

As the weeks got closer to shooting Hayley’s big “reveal” – her plot to poison Bill Hamilton (Timon Durrett) – the BTG producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers, asked Goings to come into her office and talk, and that’s when she found out about Hayley’s dark side.

What’s The End Game For Hayley?

Planning a murder of a major character could mean that Hayley is on her way to prison at some point, but Goings, who was careful with her words so that she does not ruin anything for BTG fans, had this to say, “I don’t want to say too much because I feel like it’ll be giving something away. But they kind of told me what’s going on now and in the future. It was just clear communication.”

She also added, “If Hayley was backed into a corner or got caught [up to no good], it would be nice to have Leslie there to blame. It’s like a “Get Out of Jail Free” card.”

After all, Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) did recently ask Hayley to form an alliance, and Hayley is quick on her toes. After the confrontation with Leslie, Hayley quickly ran to Bill and mentioned how “crazy” Leslie is. Was she setting her “friend up” just in case she needed someone to take the fall?
