‘Beyond The Gates’ Recap Week of February 24-27: 3 Major Takeaways + Key Unanswered Questions

Beyond the Gates spoilers reveal the soap’s first week on the airwaves was explosive, and it looks like the second week in Fairmont Crest will be equally intriguing.

If you didn’t have a chance to tune in, or would like a bit of a refresher, here are three takeaways, and some unanswered questions to speculate about.

Fans got introduced to the center of the soap’s storyline off the bat during the first show, as they met the Dupree Family: Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie), Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis), as well as their daughters Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) and Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnée Duplaix).

Still, Dani’s drama was the storyline highlighted the most, as viewers learned that she’s been dealing with a lot lately.

Her husband of 35 years, Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) cheated on her and left her for her eldest daughter’s, Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) best friend, Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings).

Hayley and Bill were not only set to get married at Fairmount Crest country club, but they are slated to move into the neighborhood, very soon too. Dani’s not over Bill, at all, who seems like the soap’s major villain at this point.

In fact, he had the audacity to ask Vernon and Anita to attend the wedding and ensure their family and friends came, too.

He reminded them of some past “favors” he’s done for the family, which brought viewers to the next major storyline unveiled during the week of February 24-28, which was about their grandson, Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon).

Martin is a congressman, trying to follow in the footsteps of Vernon, who was a former senator. He seemingly lives a peaceful life with his husband, Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning) and their two adopted children; however, it sounds like Martin has a secret.

Anita and Vernon were concerned about Bill’s warning to attend the wedding as a “favor”, and feared they had to protect Martin and the family at all costs.

Across town, on the ‘other side’ of the tracks, lives to Dana “Leslie” Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) and her daughter Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle), and these two women share a secret.

Fans could tell that Leslie had an odd obsession with Nicole and her husband, Ted Richardson (Maurice Johnson) that she was trying to keep under wraps.

Leslie is faking a “nice” persona, but she’s a vile schemer to the core. Fans know the mother and daughter have some sort of plan up their sleeves but aren’t exactly sure what.

It also was hinted that Eva could be Ted’s daughter and Leslie also lost someone special to her, presumably her husband, named ‘Alan’.

Unanswered Questions

While fans were bombarded with plenty of information surrounding character dynamics, there are also so many questions looming:

Hayley seems like a nice character who is simply being manipulated by Bill, but is she really so clueless that she can’t understand why Dani and Naomi are so upset – considering how they welcomed her into their home and treated her life family?

Will Hayley’s father return to Fairmont Crest at any point? Could he unknowingly be someone who lives in the community?

What did Martin do that required “protecting” from Anita and Vernon? Why does he have some violent and unsettling dreams? What was the favor Bill did that “saved” Martin? Why is Leslie so bitter toward Nicole?

Are Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob) and Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) “just friends” or do they share a romantic past?

What was going on with Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) and that man she met up with at the bar before Dani came to the table? Were they “role-playing” to hit the sheets? This is very odd, considering Vanessa is married to Doug McBride (Jason Graham).

Why is Dani so violent? Does she suffer from a mental health disorder?
