Beyond The Gates Spoilers: What Is Martin’s Secret – Here’s What We Know So Far

Beyond the Gates spoilers suggest Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) has a secret, and it seems to be something that only his grandparents, Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) know about.

This is turning into a very interesting storyline, to say the least, but what is Martin hiding? Here’s what we know so far.

The Duprees Are Protecting Martin At “All Costs”

During Beyond the Gates’ first week, fans learned about Dani Dupree’s (Karla Mosley) cheating husband, Bill Hamilton (Timon Durrett) who dumped her after 35 years of marriage for his younger mistress, Hayley Lawson’s (Marquita Goings).

He wanted the Duprees and the rest of the Fairmont Crest community to attend the wedding, as no one wanted to go because of how hurt Dani was. He dangled past favors he’d done for the family in front of Vernon, which caused the Dupree patriarch to worry.

He told Anita about the conversation, and they both agreed that they had to protect the family and protect Martin at all costs. This meant going to the wedding. Why would they sacrifice their daughter’s hurt feelings to protect their grandson? He must’ve done something major, right?

It’s interesting to note that Bill also happens to be a defense attorney … so what kind of favor did he extend to the Duprees where Martin is concerned?

Martin’s Dreams

Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning), Martin’s husband, has also mentioned how disturbing his dreams are.

A clip was shown during the week of February 24-28 of Martin napping on the couch, and while it was hard to tell what the congressman was saying in his sleep, it did feel as if he was having a nightmare – or re-living one.

Violence Is Never The Answer

One ongoing theme is how vocal both Vernon and Anita have been about ‘violence never being the answer’ (even though all their youngest daughter has ongoing violent outbursts, but that’s another story).

There’s been a couple of times where Martin has seemingly made a comment about this, only to be hushed by his grandparents.

He even mentioned in the aftermath of Dani’s gun-toting incident at Bill and Hayley’s wedding on the Monday, March 3 episode that some people can be pushed to their limits at times. What did he mean by that?

Did Martin murder someone? It looks like it may have been done by accident or potentially in a situation where his emotions may have gotten the better of him. Why is it that his grandparents only know, but not his parents? Did it occur before or after he became a congressman?
