Carlivati’s Writing History

Carlivati entered the land of daytime drama in 1996 when he began working for One Life to Live (OLTL) as a writer’s assistant.
He worked his way up the writing team ladder on the show and was promoted to co-head writer in 2007, along with Dena Higley. Still, by the time the year wrapped up, he was the primary head writer on the soap.
Carlivati was with the daytime drama until it ended in 2012, and eventually moved over to fellow ABC soap, General Hospital, with the title of head writer. He would jump ship to Days of Our Lives in 2017 and worked as their head writer until July 2024.
His departure from Days was “effective immediately” last summer; however, due to their filming schedule, which shoots several months in advance, his content aired until April 2025. He was replaced by Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford.
In November 2024, reports revealed that Carlivati was slated to join the Beyond the Gates writing team as a breakdown writer. He helped the new soap make history in February 2025, as it became the first daytime drama to premiere on cable in over 25 years.
