Soap Fans Would Like To See Shemar On BTG
Shemar Moore’s return to the soap opera scene is a hot topic among fans, especially with the recent cancellation of S.W.A.T. by CBS.
Many are eager to see him make an appearance on Beyond The Gates, reigniting his connection to the genre. There’s also a strong desire among viewers for him to reprise his role on The Young and the Restless.
This was where he first made his mark in 1995 as Malcolm Winters, the beloved uncle of Devon and Lily Winters, portrayed by Bryton James and Christel Khalil. After leaving the show in 2002, Moore’s career skyrocketed, but fans still hold out hope for his return to the soap world.
Shemar Hit The Primetime Big Time In Criminal Minds
Shemar Moore has been a well-known figure on television for many years; he is recognized for playing Derek Morgan on the popular CBS series Criminal Minds from 2005 to 2016. After more than ten years, he left the show to explore new acting roles.
He quickly found a new opportunity when the procedural drama S.W.A.T. debuted on CBS in 2017, featuring him as the lead.
The series centers on Sergeant Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson and his SWAT team as they tackle crime-it was canceled after six seasons, but CBS quickly changed its mind due to strong fan reactions.
It returned for a shorter Season 7, which was meant to be the final one. However, with Shemar Moore’s support, fans successfully urged CBS to renew the show for an eighth season.
Shemar Has Been Begging Netflix To Save S.W.A.T.
Shemar Moore recently posted on Instagram, sharing the sad news that CBS has decided to cancel S.W.A.T. after eight seasons. It seems unlikely that CBS will reverse this decision.
However, Shemar is not losing hope-in another video, he reached out to Netflix, asking them to consider picking up the show. He mentioned, “Netflix, if you’re looking for a show that people love, we’re ready to join you.”
He reminded viewers that S.W.A.T. became the most-watched show on Netflix shortly after its release. He also suggested that NBC, ABC, or Fox might step in to save the series.
What About The New CBS Soap?
His fans definitely want to see S.W.A.T. continue; but if it doesn’t, he can explore other opportunities-Shemar Moore still remembers his beginnings in soap operas.
He has come back to Y&R multiple times, including for its 50th anniversary in 2023-if he chooses not to go back to Genoa City, there’s a new place ready for him.
Fans would be excited to see Shemar Moore in Fairmont Crest, the setting for CBS’s new soap Beyond The Gates, which started in January with great reviews and high ratings.
Soap stars Cady McClain and Jon Lindstrom have recently joined the cast; Shemar could reprise his role as Malcolm Winters or take on a new character.
He might also return to Criminal Minds as Derek Morgan, which ended in 2020 but is getting a reboot on Paramount+.
