Beyond The Gates spoilers and updates pose an interesting question for Roger Howarth fans. Will we see Roger show up as a character on the new CBS soap?
Roger Howarth Is A Very Versatile Actor
Fans who have watched Roger through all the years he’s been on TV know he’s a very versatile actor who’s been in not only several soaps, but quite a few primetime shows. And he’s still keeping in touch with his soapy roots, with an upcoming fan event he announced on his Instagram page.
Howarth announced this on his Instagram story, inviting everyone to a special “storytelling and lunch” gathering on Sunday, March 23.
Kicking off at 11:00 am, the event will take place at Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club, located at 518 Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. Attendees can look forward to enjoying lunch with the actor as he reminisces about his past experiences.
No Plans To Play Another Character On General Hospital
As fans are aware, his last two characters met untimely ends-first Franco Baldwin, then Austin-Gatlin Holt, although Todd Manning merely left Port Charles when GH couldn’t use his OLTL character.
This was when he and two other OLTL actors/characters migrated to GH and there was a lawsuit by Prospect Park, a company who tried early online versions. Unless the ABC soap concocts another miraculous resurrection plot, it seems unlikely that Howarth will reprise those roles.
Fans hope for a fresh character to emerge there, but no such developments have been confirmed; his most recent project is a film called Ghosts In The Blood.
Two Former Co-Stars Recently Joined BTG
Two of Roger’s former co-stars from the CBS soap “As The World Turns” recently joined Beyond The Gates; Jon Lindstrom joined as Joey Armstrong while Cady plays Pamela Curtis.
Cady McClain played Rosanna Cabot Ryan, Roger played Paul Ryan, and Jon Lindstrom played Craig Montgomery while they were on As The World Turns together.
Plus, on GH Jon still recurs as Kevin Collins, although his evil twin Ryan Chamberlain was killed off, after Roger’s character Franco played a big part in Ryan’s capture a few years back.
BTG producer and writer Michele Van Jean wrote 402 episodes of GH between 1993 and 2012, Roger having started on GH in 2012-so the connections are definitely there.
It is very possible, although nothing rumored or confirmed, that Roger, too, like his former co-stars Jon and Cady, could show up on the new CBS soap.
Who Could Roger Play On The New CBS Soap?
At the risk of being typecast, Roger has played lots of bad boys on ABC soaps including Todd Manning and Franco Baldwin although Austin Gatlin-Holt was a mixed good and bad character.
Paul Ryan on ATWT wasn’t a villain, and his Austin character on GH was a doctor. We can see Roger as either a good character, a bad character, or a mixed or neutral character on BTG.
He could be one of Joey Armstrong’s henchman associates, a doctor in the hospital, possibly a partner in Ted Richardson’s (Maurice Johnson) practice, or a fireman or paramedic. The powers that be at the new CBS soap could use the versatile Roger almost anywhere!

I have yet to watch Beyond The Gates, but put Roger Howarth on the show and I’M THERE
I’m watching but would watch if not just for him! Doesn’t matter to me what character he plays as long as it’s long term.
