'B&B' Makes History: All-Female Episode Written, Directed, and Starring Heather Tom.The Bold and the Beautiful is celebrating 35 years of Heather Tom on the CBS soap in an unprecedented way.

More On This Historic Episode

The all-female show is slated to air this Thursday, March 27, and will not only celebrate Tom’s incredible run with The Bold and the Beautiful but also Women’s History Month.

The episode will star Tom, along with Jennifer Gareis (Donna Logan), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan), Annika Noelle (Hope Logan), Rebecca Budig (Taylor Hayes), and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester).

Tom revealed to Deadline that Brad Bell approached her and stated, “This is your 35th year. You’ve been writing and directing. You’ve also been acting the whole time, and I think that it would be amazing if you did all three in one show.”

Tom replied, “I was like, oh, that’ll be interesting! So logistically it was just, well, let’s figure out how I can be on stage acting in the scenes and then directing those scenes.”

The actress added that she agreed to it, and thought it should air during Women’s History Month, due to the historical impact it would be for the soap genre.

Mother & Daughters

The episode will focus on mother and daughter relationships. The six-time Daytime Emmy winner stated, “The mother daughter relationships are so interesting to me and so formative.”

She added, “… now this is going to make me cry because I lost my mother last year. I wanted to kind of pay homage to her because I certainly wouldn’t be here without her literally and figuratively.”

As such, there will be a bit of dialogue with Katie and Donna during the episode, who are sisters and lost their mom. It’s important to note that the cast for the show wasn’t only all-female, the assistant director, stage manager, and editors were all women.
