The Bold and the Beautiful star Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer) wants to clear the air on a few things. First and foremost, he wants fans to know that he’s nothing like the character that he plays on the small screen and second, that he’s not taking any sides in the whole Hope Logan (Annike Noelle) versus Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacIness Wood) debate. Scott was forced to take to his social media account to fire back at some false accusations that were made by his fans. While we all know that daytime television fans are some of the most passionate ones out there, some people do take things a little too far.

According to Scott, he had to once again remind his fans that he’s playing a character on a daytime soap and that his personal life and opinions are a world away from that of Liam Spencer’s. You’d think by now that some people would already know that!

Scott was forced to clarify a few things by writing, “Yes, almost all fans recognize intellectually that I’m not Liam. But emotionally it’s harder to separate us. Everyone has biases. So when the story is such that Liam appears dismissive or hurtful toward Steffy, it’s genuinely hard for some fans to look at my face or read my words without trying to read between the lines to see if I condone or condemn it. Here’s the truth: I, Scott, do not have any loyalty toward one coupling or another.”

He also added, “My loyalty, rather, is to Mr. Bell and whatever story he wants to tell at that time. I’m not an artist; I’m a hired gun. This is not to say I don’t love working with certain actors or wish I got more screen time with others. But that’s just behind the scenes—totally independent of story.”

Clearly, Scott loves the work that he does and appreciates all of his fans and their support and their loyalty. But sometimes you just have to remind them that this all make believe, right?
