The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) star Thorsten Kaye sat down with Soap Opera Digest and revealed why Ridge Forrester came to the decision to protect his son, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) from any legal consequences of Emma Barber’s (Nia Sioux) death. He knows that this choice could end his marriage, but the concerned father wants to protect his troubled son from spending time in jail.
Thorsten shares that it is an impossible decision, but he ultimately decides to stand up for his son and protect him from any more trouble. It is something that will cause the Logans and Spencers a lot of pain because they were counting on the fact that Thomas will be held accountable for the events that led to Emma’s death.

For Ridge and Thomas, his father understands that some of Thomas’ turmoil is his fault. When Thomas was a youngster, Ridge left his mother Taylor Haynes (Hunter Tylo) for Brooke Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) and started a family with her. And, Thomas never really got over it and their relationship has suffered ever since.
However, Ridge acknowledges the same conversation could apply to his own father, Eric Forrester (John McCook). Ridge decides that he will take some of the blame for this horrible situation and he does what he can to shield his son from any more drama.

After Detective Sanchez (Jeremy Ray Valdez) suggests that Thomas might have contributed to Emma’s death, Ridge has a moment of panic. Bold and the Beautiful spoilers say that Ridge decides to protect his son because he feels responsible for his actions to a point. He realizes that as a parent, he may have helped create a monster. And, without Taylor around, he makes a stand to protect his son.
And, Ridge understands that what Thomas did was wrong. He isn’t giving him a pass on that. The only thing Ridge knows is he loves his son and he wants to do everything he can to help him heal and see his mistakes.
Bold and the Beautiful spoilers state that Ridge’s wife, Brooke will not like the fact that Ridge helped Thomas. But instead on focusing on rebuilding his marriage, the concerned father decides to make a commitment to be there for his son.

No, I think Ridge has become a wimpy person. A few years ago he couldn’t stand Thomas for what he did to Caroline and even kept Douglas from him by not telling him Douglas was his son. So Ridge is no better than his crazy son Thomas and both deserve anything bad that comes their way. I don’t care for Brook, but in this storyline she should get as far away from Ridge and Thomas as she can.
I understand Ridge wanting to help his son but I think having him in therapy would be the best decision Ridge could make because shoving it under the rug will not help Thomas in the end he needs to address the issues and bad decisions he has caused.
Have watched this show since it first aired. Never did like Taylor she got away with shooting Bill.
Thomas got away with trying to kill Rick. When Brooke got into trouble she had to face music. Wish the writers would allow a marriage to stay intact,even if they have to go through hard times. It

No, as a parent you want the best for your child but ultimately, in order to fully become an adult is to face consequences. If your child swears, breaks something etc… you don’t just smile and say “thats okay darling” no you punish them, grounding, time out, taking their phone etc… but when they become an adult and the crime becomes much more serious do you just turn the other cheek? Thomas may have not killed Emma but he chased her causing her to drive erratically, he could’ve backed off but he just pursued her further then watched her crash leaving her to die. He lied to Hope (who claimed to love even though he could have mended her grief), betrayed his sister(again for his selfish agenda), used his own young son. Yet Ridge STILL just tells him “thats okay”. Another example of bad parenting from Ridge.

NO Ridge is not doing the right thing.Seems like the Forster’are above the law (or in bed with them) the do not pay for the wrong they have done. I understand the bond between parent & child and that they want to protect them, but the better choice would have been getting Thomas the help he needs. I think he will just continue to manipulate Ridge one he knows Ridge blames himself, and he will just get more dangerous.
Of course it’s a parents instinct to protect their children, but allowing them to get away with despicable deeds isn’t actually helping , it’s enabling. Ridge will find that out when Thomas turns on him at some point. Thomas needs to be held accountable for his actions and not have them swept under the rug, that kind of support will only prop Thomas up allowing him to continue his abhorrent behavior.

Those are crocodile tears just so he can figure out how to get his own way. He’ll play his father like a fiddle until something happens! I hope Brooke leaves his sorry ass!
