Hope made it clear that she didn’t want to be married to Liam. He rejected his then wife’s premise that her need to help Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) meant that Lope couldn’t stay together. But Hope believed that Liam’s place was with Kelly Spencer (Zoe Pennington and Allison Marcia Sweeney), Phoebe, and Steffy.
What Hope didn’t anticipate was Liam and Steffy’s romantic re-connection happening so quickly. No one knows that Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) drugging of Liam’s drink made that happen. With that dastardly intent realized, Hope’s feelings have dramatically shifted.

While she still cares deeply for Liam, Hope’s decision to marry Thomas makes it possible that the coming Phoebe-is-Beth reveal won’t necessarily spurn a Lope revival. Of course Thomas’ actions will be key to whatever the future becomes.

If Thomas is able to start a family with Hope, possibly using chemical means to do so, then the chance for Lope to reconcile could be lost for awhile. The idea of Hope having Thomas’ baby through engineered means is the type of daytime drama that would cause mega-conflict. So fans are surely considering what and maybe not if, the consequences of that storyline direction would mean.

Liam’s current fears are linked to him realizing that Thomas is openly positioning himself to become Liam’s replacement as Hope’s husband. But any future announcement Hope makes about Thomas also being the father of her next child would send shock waves across this fictional version of Los Angeles, California.
The timing of that potential reality will affect the balance Liam now faces between Hope and Steffy. If the baby reveal drops before Hope realizes she’s pregnant with Thomas’ baby, no matter what consequences he eventually faces for keeping Phoebe’s identity secret, then Lope could be reborn. But if Hope becomes aware of her next projected child before Thomas’ schemes are fully revealed, then Liam likely stays with Steffy.
