In the magazine, it was brought up how there seems to be a role reversal. Brooke is no longer the one that is being targeted. These days, Brooke is the one who is treating a member of the family poorly.
Of course, some justify Brooke’s treatment of Thomas because of the horrible things he has done. However, it also seems like she isn’t interested in Thomas getting treatment and becoming a better man. She straight up told Ridge that the young man needs to be sent away, someplace long-term and given medication.
She didn’t say the words “lock away the key, never let him out,” but viewers know that is what she was thinking.

However, everyone has the potential to change and improve themselves. This was the point Ridge was making – that taking away his parental rights isn’t the proper thing to do yet. There is a chance that treatment can make him not only better, but perhaps the ideal father. But nobody will know that if he isn’t given a chance. It is clear that no matter what, Brooke will not allow him to have the opportunity.

It isn’t clear if Ridge sees the comparison between Stephanie and Brooke. What he does know that Brooke will not change how she sees Thomas. Even if he were to become the perfect human being, Brooke will not forget his evil deeds and she has no intention of forgiving him either.
As much as Ridge wants his family and marriage to heal, that doesn’t seem possible.
