In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, it is stated that Ridge has a difficult time accepting that his marriage is over. Thorsten Kaye said,

“I think once you make a decision as to what you will or will not live with, then you can see if you can get past it. They’re still both in their camps thinking they’re right. I would like to think that they can overcome anything, but I’m not sure if that is a reality.”

After telling Shauna the news, she will do her best to comfort Ridge and assure him that a failed marriage is not his fault. He did the best he could under the circumstances and compromise has to be two-sided. If only one side is willing to bend, a relationship will eventually break under the pressure.
