Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Thomas Is Psycho – Is He Responsible For Caroline’s Death Too?

Matthew Atkinson (Thomas Forrester) is killing it on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’. Along with terrifically written storyline and numerous other colleagues strong performances, Atkinson’s efforts are evoking classic movie villains from days gone by and offer a wink to elements within the film Mulholland Drive (2001) and, of course, to its title.

Anthony Perkins (Norman Bates), who starred in the ‘Psycho’ movies (1960, 1983, 1986), and Christian Bale (Patrick Bateman), who starred in ‘American Psycho’ (2000), represent just two notably infamous villains. Overlay B&B’s chilling music whenever Thomas appears on screen and the audience lives inside a hybrid horror-thriller.

It’s understood that Thomas’ current mental state and his past instances of moral slippage can be used to explain away, but not excuse, all that’s been developing within his angle of the baby swap story. But fans aren’t to that point yet, with more episodes to go until the destined reveal and fallout for all involved.

Thomas’ twisted alter ego believes that keeping Beth Spencer’s (Madeline Valdez and River Davidson) life as Phoebe Forrester concealed, threatening three of the other secret-keepers, and forcing Emma Barber (Nia Sioux) off that famous winding road is ends justifying the means territory. The 2001 David Lynch film, along with odes to the Alfred Hitchcock movie, Hitchcock inspired sequels, and Mary Harron’s flick are also felt.

Upon his return to Los Angeles, California, the recast character Thomas played seemed like a poor soul. Caroline Spencer’s (Linsey Godfrey) sudden death left him as the single parent of Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri), who was trying to cope with life and seek the support of family.

Based upon a series of off-beat actions, viewers were right to question the circumstances of Caroline’s death before Thomas tailgated Emma to her Mulholland Drive death. If speculation proves true with Godfrey’s character, then Thomas would have gone off the rails shortly after Pierson Fode’s (Thomas) version left Los Angeles, California.

As is true of many big screen villains, the end of the road will be reached eventually. The thrill in instances such as the one B&B is projecting, is seeing how far Thomas will be allowed to go. This classic daytime thriller is heading toward a measured conclusion, as opposed to Lynch’s work, which was was purposely open-ended.
