The Bold And The Beautiful  Spoilers – Dallas Cast Reunites In Palm Springs

From Patrick Duffy to Linda Gray, the cast of Dallas headed to Palm Springs for a reunion. Others from the cast included Charlene Tilton, Audrey Landers, Steve Kanaly, Joan Van Ark, Sheree Wilson and Cathy Podewell. And director Michael Preece joined in the reunion for the show’s 45th anniversary. Linda, 82, talked with People about her perspective.

“I think that Dallas was like daytime soaps that were very popular,” reflected Gray. “And Dallas came into play and it was gigantic.” But the actress also explained her thoughts on why the show succeeded. And she noted that like soap operas, Dallas “filled that same need that people love to have a recurring story, suspense and something to look forward to.”

Because the show lasted for so long, viewers became acquainted with the characters, added Linda. “The audience got to know the characters so genuinely,” pointed out the actress. “And they really cared for” those characters.” But Gray also noted that the dramatic stories fascinated viewers. As a result of the drama, Gray feels fans enjoyed relating to “the stories that were bigger than life.” And she feels that viewers appreciated living “vicariously through those characters. Dallas was so influential.”

B&B Spoilers – Star Patrick Duffy Compares Dallas To Yellowstone

Duffy, 74, feels that Dallas resembles shows such as Succession and Yellowstone. And he admitted, “Sometimes I watch and think we did that.” However, the Bold And The Beautiful star believes that Peyton Place actually began the concept. “We latched onto the premise that was not started with Dallas, but with Peyton Place,” added Duffy. “But then that was forgotten and Dallas took over.”

And the Bold And The Beautiful star believes that Dallas created a “standard writing template for shows that run any period of time from a few episodes onto years. But yeah, it all started with us,” shared Duffy. And Tilton, 64, chimed in. She feels that Dallas became “the first show that gave you characters that were truly flawed. But they were loved by the audience. And every one of us had a major flaw,” she added. “But still they were human and the audience still loved them.”

From 1978 to 1991, Dallas riveted fans. And its 14 seasons resulted in four Emmy awards. For Dallas star Victoria Principal, the first five years of the show represented “some of the best television I’ve ever seen.” And the 73-year-old actress admitted, “When I went in for the part on Dallas, I had already fallen in love with the show and with the part. So, my feeling from the moment I read it was that it was incredibly special,” she shared. “And I really, really wanted to be a part of it.”
