Colleen snagged the position of the California Film Commissioner just over one year ago. The former soap producer and three-time Emmy winner had no idea what would be in her future, though.

When the coronavirus pandemic shut down production, she found herself having to use her crisis management skills (she was formerly a US ambassador to Hungary while Barack Obama was president.) Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Collen explained that she just “hunkered down and really focused.”

B&B Spoilers – Is B&B The First To Restart A Coincidence?

Collen is the wife of The Bold and the Beautiful’s head writer and executive producer. However, that had no bearing at all on B&B being the first soap to restart. She told the publication,

“[Bradley Bell] is someone who has been producing and writing 250 episodes of TV every year with his extremely talented team for more than 30 years. So he really believed that they could be quick out of the gate and get rolling.”

She added, “… I have up-to-the-minute — or to-the-second — information on when production would be allowed to resume in the state of California, and yet I could hear him on the phone in the other room, and he’s like, ‘I think we’ll be back to work next week.’ And I just have to go in there and say, ‘Brad, that’s not happening!”

She has spent most of her time during the pandemic working with industry leaders and local officials trying to get Hollywood back to work in the safest way possible. When she realized that The Bold and the Beautiful was going to be the first back in production, she warned her husband. She told him to go into it with a ton of humility because there are so many variables.

Even though B&B is the first to get back to filming, Brad promises that every possible precaution is being taken to ensure the health of the cast and crew. Brad does confess that being the first back to work is exciting, but does acknowledge that it comes with so much responsibility.
