With past recording-to-air dates spanning approximately six weeks, it would normally be possible for B&B fans to expect to see a new episode in late July.

New safety protocols and limitations could make it challenging to produce an actual ready-to-air episode in a normal time frame. However, the noticeable drop in viewers puts heavy pressure on B&B to produce new content as soon as possible.

Guessing is the new norm. While B&B gleefully returned to production last week, it then shut down after one actual day of work, which was termed a pause.

But let’s not overreact to B&B’s decision. Considering all the new workplace measures that needed to be created, it’s understandable that TPTB on the set needed to adjust to people actually working through said protocols in person during the first day of filming.

Testing measures are also serious business and were said to be part of the reconsideration process when production was set to resume this week. That makes complete sense, as everyone is adjusting to the developing world.

Monday’s Tests And Unexpected Work Week Issues

B&B’s new, full week schedule has personnel being tested on a Monday, followed by a filming schedule that runs from Tuesday through Friday.

Certainly, measures have been created that allow for failed tests and the needed removal of whoever falls into that unwanted category. So, it’s reasonable to wonder if enough crew members will be available each day to allow a standard production schedule each day? It’s also fair to ask what happens if an actor isn’t able to work, for whatever reason?

There is no question that the creative forces that produce soap operas have and will continue finding ways to produce daytime drama. If the four-day workweek is able to be sustained, with little, or no break, then it’s plausible that B&B fans could see new episodes resume within a matter of weeks, versus the standard six week time frame.

So, a late mid to late July air date is reasonable, considering all factors and the need for fresh shows to be broadcast. Ratings project to eventual advertising dollars, which must be earned for this soap and others to remain on the air.
