The Bold and The Beautiful Spoilers: 4 Ways Ridge Could Kill Eric With Forced Retirement

The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers ruined Friday December 5 for everybody with Ridge Forrester’s forced retirement party for Eric Forrester (John McCook).

How ridiculous was this sudden and contrived plot point? So ridiculous that outsider Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) was the voice of reason at FC. Let’s break down why this stupendous storyline could be the death of Eric Forrester!

1) Daphne was actually right when she told Ridge that Patriarch Eric should retire on his terms. Because if the elder dies doing what he loves, that’s a life well lived. Ridge the Younger doesn’t see it that way.

2) Anyone in Eric’s position would have a clear succession plan for FC. It’s his legacy and he obviously cares a great deal about it. You mean to say that he has given zero thought to cementing the company’s heritage for all time? Phooey. Of course he has. Maybe he should tell Ridge.

Eric should have the FC lines mapped out for years. He is a shrewd businessman and would have learned to bullet proof FC after the likes of Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) threw him out on his *ss not too long ago.

3) The writers are getting redundant. This same exact storyline, with the design challenge, played out recently enough that we all remember Eric’s fondness for his stapler.

Is this just giving John McCook something to do, a temporary front burner chew-the-curtains tidbit? If so, he deserves better.

4) No one throws a surprise retirement party. When was the last time you went to one? Poor Eric, one minute he was literally throwing down designs in front of voluptuous Donna Forrester (Jenniefer Gareis) and the next he’s weeping openly in front of the minions.

Here’s what’s going to happen if stupid Ridge forces Eric into retirement: he could die. Retirement may be the thing that kills him, not an extra game of pickle ball.

Eric loves to work and being forced out of his job could depress him leading to a downturn in his overall health and wellness. He can still design and travel, etc.
