The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers document that Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) was understandably bothered when Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) spoke out of both sides of his mouth at the Logan mansion.

In a well-crafted scene, Bill pledged his love to Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang). She appreciated the times they shared in the past but told him that her heart remains with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye).

Carter was seen standing out of sight at one of Brooke’s side entrances. His eavesdropping proved wise, as Katie Logan’s (Heather Tom) arrival, moments after her sister went upstairs, helped to reinforce Dollar Bill’s persona.

Katie was asked to consider reconciliation on multiple occasions in recent years. She rejected Bill’s pitch each time, regularly citing his deeper love for Brooke.

Bill would not deny his feelings for Brooke. But he side-stepped the issue, categorizing them as part of the past.

Tom’s character knows Bill better than anyone. He is or was the love of her life. Viewers saw Bill tell Brooke that she holds that top spot in his mind, with Katie painfully experiencing the reality that she was not number one.

Bill presents himself as a tough guy. But devoted viewers know there were many instances where Bill’s vulnerability was confirmed.

In effect, Bill does not want to be alone. He is also afraid to go outside his comfort zone, meaning Brooke and Katie.

Of course, Katie and Brooke’s names could be switched to match Bill’s mood. There is no doubt that Brooke is his stronger love. But he does love Katie and is bonded to her through their son, Will Spencer (Finnegan George).

Carter is coming off a series of relationship fails. The most surprising is the one that just evaporated.

Encouragingly, Carter did not shutdown. But it is fair to suggest that his connection with Katie reflects a bit of loneliness and potentially a rebound.

Katie deserves a man who loves her, as she has been saying. Carter may be a better choice than Bill as long as Saint-Victor’s character is being honest with himself about whatever may develop with Katie on B&B.
