While there’s no doubt that losing a parent at any age is difficult, it’s especially challenging for a young boy the same age as Douglas Forrester. Unfortunately, he never really had a true opportunity to mourn his mother Caroline Spencer or even process his grief in a healthy way or by professionals. Instead, his father wasted no time in trying to replace Caroline with Hope Logan as his new replacement ‘mommy.’ This might give Douglas the impression that anyone is replaceable at any time, regardless of who they are.

As many The Bold and the Beautiful fans have noticed so far, if there’s one thing that Douglas has learned from his father Thomas, it’s that he can use guilt to trap others. And that’s exactly what he’s been doing with Hope Logan. Each and every time Hope tries to leave, Douglas traps her by making an emotional plea for her to stay. This makes it especially hard for Hope, as she doesn’t want to break his heart any more than it already is.

Grandmother Taylor Hayes Is Absent

With that said, it’s no doubt that everyone in the Forrester family is dealing with some sort of emotional issues and that’s why life in this fictional town of Los Angeles is always unstable for them. However, Douglas is still a young boy and unfortunately, he is picking up all of his bad habits through observation.

If there’s one person that he can use in his life right now, it would most definitely be his grandmother, Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo). Her knowledge, expertise, and experience as a therapist would help Douglas not only properly mourn his mother, but also give him an opportunity to speak to someone he can trust. Yet, Taylor has been absent for months and it doesn’t look like she will be making any house calls back to the Forrester Mansion anytime soon.
