Thomas Forrester Wants Douglas Forrester To Think He’s Losing Hope Logan
As viewers of The Bold and The Beautiful know, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) wants Douglas Forrester to think he’s losing Hope as his mother after Thomas and Hope co-parenting Douglas for quite a while. Even though Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey) was Douglas’ real mother, she died when he was a baby, so Hope is the only mother he has ever known.
As Douglas sees his father paying more and more romantic attention to Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes) and even having her set playtimes and whatnot for them to get to know each other, Douglas sees her as competition for Hope and a replacement for his mommy and he’s scared that if his daddy marries Zoe, which it looks like it’s heading that way, that he will lose Hope because Zoe will replace her!
Douglas Forrester Is One Scared And Confused Little Boy
Douglas is one scared and confused little boy. He is insecure because of this new woman he hardly knows suddenly appearing in his father’s life, and suddenly he is not spending quite as much time with Hope as he did, his father setting up some times with Zoe – although he hasn’t set up any family time with himself, Zoe and Douglas together! That seems very odd if
Thomas is trying to create a family with himself, Douglas and Zoe – but then, approaching it that way might actually work instead of scaring Douglas over to Hope like Thomas really wants! Thomas wants Douglas to do his “dirty work” – so to speak – the “dirty work” of forcing Hope to take Thomas back for Douglas’ sake so he can dump Zoe because Douglas doesn’t want to bond with her.
If This Were Real Life Instead Of A Daytime Drama All Would Be In Family Therapy
If Thomas weren’t such a terrible father and this was real life instead of a daytime drama, Zoe, Douglas, Thomas and probably Hope as well would all be in family therapy to determine what is in the best interests of the child, Douglas, not the interests of the adults. At the very least there would be coping mechanisms taught and protocols to make the child feel more secure that he was not being abandoned by anyone.
But, the saying that children are resilient is true; there isn’t much that can be done to help a child in a situation that cannot be changed, such as a parent dying from a terminal illness or being killed suddenly in an automobile accident. The child can be put in grief counseling or helped to manage their feelings of grief and unintentional abandonment, but eventually, they heal with time, and neither is it good to allow the child or children to run the show in adult relationships! Ultimately, a happy medium needs to be achieved between the adults for Douglas’ sake!
