During an interview, head writer and executive producer Bradley Bell teased Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) helps Steffy break free — from pain pills, as well as the Spencer men!

However, we speculated a few weeks ago that the pain Steffy would endure might not be entirely physical. Many addictions are not started by physical pain but to numb emotional trauma. Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) mentioned this recently. Plus, Novlan told Soap Opera Digest that there are different types of pain. Finn will try to find the cause of Steffy’s pain.

B&B Spoilers – ‘Breaking Free’ From Spencer Men

Bell discussed Steffy and Finn’s storyline with TV Soap, an Australian magazine. He teased that Finn will be a part of Steffy “breaking free.” We got the indication that Bell wasn’t just talking about Steffy’s pain or the addiction storyline. It seems that he was also referring to Steffy breaking from Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton).

“She has been involved with all the Spencer men. It’s a tight universe. Now she’s breaking free with a young, accomplished, kind, handsome doctor, which is something that I think the fans have been rooting to have happened.”

The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers reveal that many new characters are already related to a character, or they turn out to be later on. However, this doesn’t seem like it’s planned for Finn. Bell explained the importance of having a fresh face with a clean slate. The show’s boss also teased that they can easily build a mystery around Finn.

“Finn has some mystery to him and we can build a back story around him. Whenever I bring on new characters, I ask, ‘How can we tie them into the past?’ However, with John Finnegan, it feels good to have a clean slate and have someone be new for Steffy.”

B&B Spoilers – Hope Beyond ‘Lope’

As fans recall, when Steffy told Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) the truth about that kiss with Liam, she said it was the right thing to do. She kept insisting that “Lope” belonged together. However, we mentioned back then that there was one moment when Steffy’s face had a look of disdain or bitterness. It only lasted for a few moments, but we speculated that Steffy was still hurting.

It also would explain why Steffy hasn’t gotten involved in anyone for two years… since the “Steam” split. She was asked out for drinks once but swiftly turned him down. Then, she signed up with a dating site but never filled out her profile. Plus, there is the gigantic “Steam” portrait that hung on Steffy’s living room wall. For two years it stayed up there, even though they had supposedly moved on. It has to be a constant reminder of her shattered relationship.

With Finn’s help, perhaps Steffy can finally move on and be with a man who actually deserves her.
