Katie was the latest Logan sister to check in on Eric. Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) does that with regularity, with the open intent of pushing Quinn out of his life and the Forrester’s world.
But the Logan sister who has the greatest ability to change Eric’s dynamic is Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis). TPTB presented a series of scenes in recent months where Donna has openly admitted her ongoing love for Eric. That has to be purposeful plotting, right?
Donna will likely be convinced to meet with Eric as Quinn continues her nights-out pattern. That projected development can turn this storyline around. It needs to be re-balanced in Eric’s favor, as he is the lead on this soap.

Donna is a heartfelt person. She is nothing like Quinn, to put it charitably.
Eric’s condition might be purely physical or there could be a mental component in play. Yes, this implies Quinn’s incessantly erratic behavior through the years caused Eric to shut down.
Donna is the lady who can lift Eric’s spirits and finally put an end to Queric. It is fair to wonder if that is what Eric’s subconscious mind is pursuing as well.
