Deacon believed that he was in the right place at the right time. But his presence proved to be fateful, as Brooke would have been inebriated by herself if only Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle), Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), and the two children were present at the mansion for the early New Year’s Eve party. Of course, Douglas Forrester’s (Henry Samiri) re-appearance at the mansion later that night proved vital to the developing reveal.

Brooke’s reputation precedes her, which is why Taylor, like the others, is convinced that Deacon’s post eight AM exit means that something amoral happened. So, Taylor’s desire to break the news to Ridge is intended to help him face a perceived truth.

Steffy and Thomas assumed the worst because they want their parents to reunite. Both early middle-aged adults want their parents to reunite, still harboring a grudge against Brooke for Ridge and Taylor’s split.

Taylor still loves Ridge. That feeling enables her not to give Brooke the benefit of the doubt.
