While his past will not be forgotten by those most affected, Deacon can benefit if a mega-event happens. The implication is that a soapy scenario arises where he becomes a genuine hero.

Genuine is the keyword. Deacon can not become part of a scheme Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) devises where he appears to be a hero. Also, he can not give in to his old impulses and concoct a story to achieve a grand stature.

All is possible in daytime. So, a scenario where Deacon saves Steffy’s life would put her, Ridge, and Liam in an untenable position. How would they legitimately disparage him then?
