Thomas’ personal reputation is the opposite of how he is perceived in the wider fashion world. He has systematically targeted Hope, believing they have a connection she needs to acknowledge. Until the current storyline, it appeared that Thomas was delusional.

The evolution of Hope’s feelings is being presented to the audience in an incremental and digestible manner. Fans can question the legitimacy of Hope or anyone in her position suddenly being attracted to a man who harangued her. But, if written skillfully, this storyline has legs.
