Closer to saying “I do” the couple’s wedding ceremony was cut short when the police arrived and arrested the groom Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford) after Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) reported him for allegedly taking the £100k fundraised money for Oliver’s charity.
With Emma dumping Curtis telling him she wants him out of their apartment in the morning, the couple wasted all their wedding preparations most especially Emma who stayed by his side despite knowing about his mental disorder.
The previous episode ended with Steve receiving a phone call from the charity informing him they received the money late because of a “technical error” but the protective father hid this truth from his daughter, believing it’s the best thing for her after learning about Curtis’ Factitious Disorder.
‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – Curtis Delamere Gone Forever?
Curtis fought for their relationship for the last time as he arrived in Emma’s flat to ask for forgiveness but the brokenhearted bride already decided not to give him another chance.
However, in tonight’s episode (December 22) Emma was enraged to see Steve doing a photoshoot for the charity with a giant cheque which proved Curtis was innocent.
Devastated by what Steve did, Emma rubbed on his face Curtis is now gone forever, thanks to him.
“You didn’t fall in love with him, you fell in love with who he was pretending to be,” Steve reasoned out.
Emma desperately searched for Curtis, who previously booked a flight out of the country for their honeymoon prior to the wedding. Did Curtis leave Weatherfield? Or will Emma still see her prince charming?
‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – The Good Match For Emma Brooker
Corrie fans expressed their sympathy for Emma but some were disappointed by her still wanting Curtis after all his lies.
“I like Emma as a character. But I hate they make her so damn daffy. I don’t remember Fiona being like this,” a fan tweeted.
However, actress Alexandra Mardell made it clear she’s shipping Curtis and Emma in her previous interview with the media.
“I don’t necessarily know if I think Curtis is right for Emma. But she’s really happy with him. And if he believes that Emma can help him and fix him, then yeah, why not? She’s had enough heartbreak, so let her try and figure this one out,” she told Digital Spy.
“I do actually think ultimately, Curtis is Emma’s Prince Charming. There’s just quite a big thing she needs to sort out. But at the end of the day, I do think they are a good match,” she added.
