Coronation Street “Coronation Street” alumnae Nicola Thorp best known for playing Nicola Rubinstein has talked about the dangers of using actual weapons on a filming set claiming that a co-star had lost an eye because of a blank.

Nicola Thorp narrated her horrifying experience to “This Morning” hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby during her guesting. Thorp talked about her experience as an actress for a decade where she has worked on sets that use weapons, armorers, and weapons in the theatre.

“This isn’t as rare as you might think. Obviously it’s rare that some people get shot but there are always accidents, no matter how careful you are,” she said.

“Coronation Street” Spoilers – Proving That Blanks Still Do Harm

“I have worked on a set where a gun went off that shouldn’t have been loaded and it was terrifying experience. In my opinion, there should never be a real weapon or real ammunition anywhere on set,” she declared.

Proving that “blanks” can still kill, Thorp talked about how an actor she didn’t name, lost an eye while filming on set because of a blank, claiming that the reason was the gun hadn’t been cleaned properly.

Thorp talked about the dangers of weapons on filming sets following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in a shooting accident fired by actor Alec Baldwin using a prop gun while filming the movie “Rust”.

The cinematographer and “Rust’s” producer rose to fame for her work on Archenemy (2020), Darlin’ (2019), and Blindfire (2020).

“Coronation Street” – Nicola Thorp Talks About Burnout And Mental Health Following Bella Hadid’s Breakdown

The former “Coronation Street” star has written about burnout and mental health issues in her column in Metro titled “Burnout isn’t something you can buy your way out of” following model Bella Hadid’s confession about her personal struggles with anxiety and burnout in her Instagram post with a series of selfies where she was crying.

After talking about her personal experience, Nicola Thorp pointed out how the often-toxic nature of the ‘wellness’ industry leads people to believe that happiness lies in our capacity to be happy.

“That we’re not eating the right food, doing enough yoga, or thinking the right thoughts. As if happiness is something we should be able to simply manifest into existence, or worse, pay for.”

Thorp elaborated on her thoughts, pointing out Bella’s involvement in “Kin Euphorics” as a cofounder in which the ‘wellness’ drink brand promises to ‘balance the body, mind, and spirit’.

“I worry that impressionable followers will feel drawn in by – and rightly connected to – Hadid’s candour, then stumble on her link to a fizzy drink they’ll feel compelled to buy for the sake of their own happiness,” Thorp explained.

Thorp identified burnout as a result of working too much, having too much on your plate, and not having enough time to rest.

“It’s our body’s way of telling us to slow down – not that we need to invest more in carbonated drinks,” she insisted.
