Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) is set to make a tough and shocking decision next week amid her legal fight with Aaron Sandford (James Craven). She informs her family that she’s taking a step back from her legal battle with the latter.
Amy is concerned with the costs involved in fighting the lawsuit. Fans may recall that Aaron filed a lawsuit against her after she posted a blog that he raped her. She took down her post, but she refused to issue a public statement retracting her previous allegations. Aaron’s threats didn’t work so he took matters to court.
In upcoming scenes, Amy considers using her inheritance from her late grandmother to cover the legal expenses. However, her father, Steve (Simon Gregson), adamantly refuses and says he and Tracy (Kate Ford) will find another way to cover the costs.
Amy learns that they plan to sell the flower shop flat to get the funds needed for her legal battle. She realizes the impact of the sale on Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), and Mary Taylor (Patti Clare). Amy talks to Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and decides to publish a public retraction so others will no longer suffer.
Meanwhile, Summer, Aaron’s ex-girlfriend, gives him some hard truths. She explains that she and her family will suffer if he continues to deny the truth of what he did. Aaron receives a draft of Amy’s planned statement. However, he complains about it and says that her statement doesn’t make sense.
Amy explains that she’s struggling to issue a statement that makes sense because what she’s writing isn’t true. So she suggests that Aaron write the retraction, and she’ll sign it. Aaron agrees but eventually struggles to write one as he tries to relive what happened that evening. Will Aaron finally admit to raping Amy?
