Coronation Street And Emmerdale Filming Might Shut Down Due To Alarming Covid Outbreak

 

‘Coronation Street And Emmerdale ITV soaps “Coronation Street” and “Emmerdale” are reportedly challenged for another possible production shutdown as Covid Delta-variant continues to spread among cast and crews on both shows.

According to MailOnline, the director of ITV drama John Whiston has sent an email to the production staff on both soaps, warning them to adhere to precautions amid an “alarming” rise of Covid cases on both sets.

Whiston also disclosed that the delta variant is making the current conditions on the soaps worse than of the Kent variant when both soaps halted production in January.

The current health concerns have been disrupting the schedules of the filming of both shows for the last couple of weeks and if the situation worsens, both soaps might shut down again.

Both shows are preparing to film for their Super Soap Week, where soaps air explosive dramas and scenes for the entire week, which Whiston emphasized “as more important than ever” to remind the viewers of the shows’ comeback.

Major soaps were forced to shut down with the onset of the covid-19 pandemic earlier last year and both “Coronation Street” and “Emmerdale” halted their filming two weeks due to health concerns.

Since then, the production teams have been doing creative ways to film the scenes in adhering to health precautions.

It was no secret that the staff has been bringing real-life couples on set such as actress Charlotte Jordan and her boyfriend to film Daisy Midgeley’s flirting scene with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), having her boyfriend as Ryan’s leg double.

“Coronation Street” spoilers revealed the soap has returned filming to its location after 14 months since the production shutdown due to the pandemic.

It is to film courtroom scenes in Bolton following Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) and Kelly Neelan’s (Millie Gibson) murder case developments for the late Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni).

MailOnline reported the cast had to wear their face masks between takes and they had to glam up themselves as no make-up artists were allowed on set, after receiving a warning from the ITV bosses.

The cast had to shoot out on the courthouse steps and umbrellas were also used to keep them dry as it was raining on Monday.

As of writing, it is not yet disclosed whether the possible shut down will affect either soap’s airing schedules as the ITV representatives for both soaps declined to speak about the latest update.
