Coronation Street: Bertie Is In Trouble As Gemma Struggles With Hental Health

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that there is an impending danger for Bertie Osbourne (played by Rufus Morgan-Smith).

It is because Gemma Winter (played by Dolly-Rose Campbell) is still struggling with her stress. In a recent episode, Chesney (played by Sam Aston) said that they aren’t able to continue Joseph’s (played by William Flanagan) summer club. Joseph is Chesney’s son with Katy. Joseph felt devastated when he heard the news. However, Gemma said that she would work additional shifts for Jenny.

Gemma broke down in front of Rita because she felt so stressed. She has five children to support, and apart from that, she is a mother that has to do chores. She feels so exhausted because of the pressure, especially with money.

Admittedly, this is what she felt when her brother Paul was sick. And she feels like it is the same feeling she had during postnatal depression. Rita, as a good friend, recommended her to see someone, particularly Dr. Gaddas. She might be feeling depressed again and being in constant tiredness, she won’t be able to manage it alone.

In a later timeline, Daniel and Michael decided to acquire Gemma’s babysitting service for Bertie and Glory. They were fifth that day. But because of Gemma’s struggle, she felt extreme exhaustion as she observes the room. She now thinks about how she will be able to manage her mental health with all the kids.

As Gemma went to the coffee shop, Bernie offered to help her out. She knew about the antidepressants that Gemma had been taking. She immediately went back to the house after Beth told her she was slack.

At home, when she closed her eyes for a minute because of the exhaustion, Bertie was able to get a hold of the antidepressants she’s been taking. Daniel and Daisy arrived and saw Gemma sleeping, which disappointed them. However, their disappointment turned into panic when they realized that Bertie was able to eat the tablets he saw in Gemma’s bag.

What will happen to Bertie? What will Daniel and Daisy do? And what would happen to Gemma? She has been working hard. Could this be the end of her childminding service? She has to look after her kids. Will Chesney step up and help Gemma as she struggles?

Coronation Street has been known for tackling mental health issues. And this storyline with Gemma is no different. We hope for a better treatment for this storyline so the audience can be educated as well.
