Coronation Street Boss Drops Hints About Massive Storylines For 2020

“Coronation Street” will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and it’s only natural for fans to expect nothing but the best from the show. Given that, showrunner Iain MacLeod dropped some hints as to what viewers can expect for the year 2020.

Coronation Street Spoilers – David Platt and Shona Ramsay

MacLeod revealed that the event that took place during the holidays will leave a dent on David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and Shona Ramsay’s (Julia Goulding) marriage. Their relationship will be tested and this storyline will last until the following year. It’ll be the “biggest test of their relationship” and given what the couple has been through before, this statement isn’t an exaggeration.

Corrie Spoilers – Tracy Barlow and Steve McDonald

MacLeod considers Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) as the “Jack and Vera for the 21st century.” However, he shared that Steve will accidentally stumble upon the realization that he didn’t want to marry Tracy in the first place. Meanwhile, Tracy is scared of the idea that she loves him more than he loves her. But as the story progresses, Steve will realize that he loves Tracy and their relationship will be stronger than ever.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Daniel Osbourne and Bethany Platt

Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) relationship will be explored. It’ll start with a slow burn story about the budding relationship between the two following Sinead’s recent passing. It’s quite obvious that what they have won’t last long but the show will feature their doomed romance during the first four months of the year.

Corrie Spoilers – Spring Storyline

MacLeod promised a massive spring storyline. He wasn’t able to divulge that much but he did provide some hints as to what fans can expect.

“Something will happen that probably has the most far-reaching impact of any story we’ve done since I’ve been on the show,” he said.

“Something horrifically difficult and challenging will happen that draws in 3-4 different clans on the Street and forces them to deal with the hardest thing anyone would ever have to deal with,” he continued.

It’ll happen around March or April but viewers may not realize that the storyline has kicked off, which will run from spring through summer.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Peter Barlow and Carla Connor

In April, Carla Connor (Alison King) will get a blast from her past and the storyline will kick off off-screen. The ghost from her past will threaten her relationship with Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), but MacLeod promised that they’ll survive it.
