Coronation Street Comings and Goings: Kel Allen Back, Laura Neelan Back On The Cobbles

Coronation Street is about to bring back its villainous character Laura Neelan on set again as portrayer Kel Allen announced her comeback on Instagram.

The estranged wife of loan shark Rick has never brought any good to her estranged daughter, Kelly (Millie Gibson). The last time she was on the cobbles, she betrayed Kelly by acting she’s on her side, but then called a journalist and asked how much money can she get in exchange for Kelly’s story in her involvement with Seb’s (Harry Visinoni) murder.

The bad mother has a history of abandoning her child, and her latest was when Kelly faced trial in court. Even after Kelly got out of prison, she has to stand on her own which saw her spiraling down and ended up homeless when her foster parents Imran (Charlie de Melo) and Toyah (Georgia Taylor) had to choose between her and their new foster.

Although Kelly has been through a lot, it seems like she is headed to another trouble as her mum is coming back on the Streets. Actress Kel Allen made the announcement on her Instagram account by sharing a photo of her and her on-screen daughter actress Millie wearing padded ITV Studios jackets on Corrie’s set. After missing on action for months, Kel dropped the news: “Hello 2022! Back to it with my babba!”

Fans were quick to support her and Kelly, saying how excited they are to see the “wicked” mother have more scenes with her daughter this year.

While Corie viewers are happy to know Laura’s coming back on the streets, Kelly’s portrayer revealed this isn’t good news to her character.

Before 2021 ended, Millie Gibson already revealed Kelly will be reunited with her mum Laura during her zoom interview with the media. “I’m nervous for Kelly, as this is never good news,” Millie told Digital Spy.

Millie said she’s interested to see their dynamic as she loves working with Kel, playing their roles like they are mother and daughter in real life. “We both have that sarcastic, blonde, bitchy go towards each other!” she added.

Kel also revealed Laura loves Kelly despite her character’s impulsive decisions in an interview with Inside Soap earlier last year. “It’s all about making money that will help both of them, but mostly fund Laura’s wardrobe and nights out!” she revealed.

Now that Kelly is struggling to turn away from taking spice, will Laura bring her daughter to make more money out of this dirty business?
