Coronation Street Spoilers – Remembering Claire And Ashley Peacock

A decade has passed since Steven Arnold and Julia Haworth starred together on Coronation Street.  And Corrie fans who wondered what happened to the two recently got the answer via “Loose Women,” per the Manchester Evening News.

As a result of that Coronation Street reunion, the actors recalled when Corrie viewers last saw them.  That final scene resulted in the death of Ashley, who got killed in the tram crash plot.  Shown live in 2010, the episode celebrated Coronation Street’s 50th anniversary.

As a result, the tram’s derailing trapped Ashley, Peter and Nick Tilsley.  And although Nick succeeded in rescuing Peter, a collapsed roof crushed Ashley.

Reunited on the Loose Women panel through a video hook-up, Steven and Julia spilled on their feelings about their final scenes together.  “Our final scene together… obviously the viewers had no idea what was to come but we did,” recalled Julia.

And the actress appealed to her then-co-star to confirm her emotions.  “But that scene was so hard to film, wasn’t it Stevie?” asked Julia.  As a result of her question, Steven got emotional as well.

“It really was. We were basically saying goodby to one another as we were doing it. That’s how it felt,” he added.

And the two sweetly complimented one another.  “I couldn’t have picked a better person to work with than Julia,” said Steven.  In turn, Julia gushed, “Aw Stevie, I feel the same. You know that.”

Coronation Street Spoilers – Actor’s Pleas To Corrie Producer Amid Write-Out!

In a shocking confession, Steven confessed that he initially pleaded with producers to kill Ashley after he learned he would get written out.

“When I went upstairs to see Phil Collinson [former Corrie producer] about it, he said ‘we’re shutting down the character,'” recalled Steven.

The actor called the decision “fair enough.”  But he admitted to begging the producers, “Please, please, tell me you’re killing me off?”

And for those baffled by the request, Steven offered an explanation.

“Because I wanted to go and like turn the page and start a new chapter so there’s never that thing in my mind saying, ‘am I going to go back, am I not?'” clarified the Coronation Street alum.  What do you think about these Coronation Street stars’ interviews?

I have been watching Corrie since 2008 and, truthfully, I cannot remember Ashley or Claire. I think it is time for Audrey to make her exit. She adds nothing much to the show and has no vital story line.
