Coronation Street: Evelyn Reunites With Estranged Daughter

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Evelyn (played by Maureen Lipman) is reunited with her daughter Cassie (played by Claire Sweeney).

In a recent episode, it was revealed that Cassie has arrived in Weatherfield. She was watching Tyrone (played by Alan Halsall) and Evelyn.

Coronation Street Spoilers – What Was The Reason For Her Return?

To recap, Cassie or Cassandra Plummer is Evelyn’s daughter with Harold. She is the mother of Tyrone. It was said that she was a drug addict earlier in her life. She also hung out with the wrong people. Evelyn and Harold tried to get her back but Harold suddenly died in 1982.

Cassie then blamed herself for her father’s death. She thought she stressed him so much. A few months after Harold died, Evelyn was able to find her only to find out that she had given birth to a son. Evelyn left the baby at a police station because she thought that Cassie won’t be able to take care of him.

This is why Tyrone was initially mad with Evelyn because she chose to leave him instead of taking care of him. But he then got close to her because she was the only family she has until Cassie arrived.

We have yet to find out why she returned but Evelyn was surprised to see Cassie. Evelyn had already seen her earlier in the episode when she was walking home, but she just ignored her.

Coronation Street Spoilers – How Did The Reunion Play Out?

Evelyn received a call from a hospital saying that her daughter was admitted. She was on her way to the bistro to meet Roy and Yasmeen, but this was more urgent.

Evelyn then found out that Cassie discharged herself. And then at home, Tyrone got a visitor. It was Cassie, but she told him her name was Cath and she was looking for Evelyn.

When Evelyn got home, she was shocked to see Cassie sitting in the living room. She was in a panic because Tyrone doesn’t know that his mother is still alive.

We have yet to find out if she will reveal herself to her son. According to the actress Claire Sweeney who plays Cassie, her character may be unpredictable because she was an addict.

She also said that she has good intentions to be reunited with her family, but when you’re an addict, there are some things that you do that could push your family away. Claire also revealed that Evelyn had a great relationship with Cassie and supported her on and off in the past.

It’s really hard to maintain a great relationship with an addict because it could take a lot from you financially, mentally, and emotionally. This is probably why Evelyn wasn’t able to maintain a steady relationship with her daughter.

Coronation Street is known for touching on topics that are uncomfortable such rape and other mental health issues. And now, this new narrative could get into the problem of addiction.
