Coronation Street Jim McDonald Returning To The Cobbles

Coronation Street spoilers indicate that fans might be seeing Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson) back on the Cobbles in no times. In fact, there’s a new report that suggests that Jim, who is played by actor Charlie Lawson, might soon be freed from jail in order to attend Steve’s (Simon Gregson) wedding.

Jim has been behind bars since 2011 for armed robbery. And from what we know he’s due to be released any day now which means that he’ll be walking the streets of Weatherfield as a free man again. And according to Charlie Lawson, the timing couldn’t be any better.

He told Britain’s The Mirror in a new interview, “They wanted me back full time this year, but I couldn’t do it as I am doing Rebus on stage and a thriller.”

And while Coronation Street producers are staying quiet about his upcoming storyline, they are dropping hints that it’s going to be an exciting one. Charlie first made his Coronation Street debut back in 1989 and stayed with the soap until 2000. He then made several appearances from 2003-2005 and again from 2007-2011.

A spokesperson for the soap said: “Jim is such a hugely popular character. We’re delighted he is coming back for what will be a typically explosive Jim storyline.”

Jim will be back just in time for Steve’s wedding to Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) later this spring. It’ll be interesting to see how his family reacts. Fans already can’t wait to find out what’s in store!
