Coronation Street Super Soap Week is fast approaching, avid viewers are about to see the Alahans getting involved in a car crash with Aadi left to die in the explosion, and star Jimmi Harkishin has spoken more of his character’s choice.
Knowing that Jimmi Harkishin’s iconic character, the solo parent Dev Alahan, is torn between who to save first between the twins in the accident involving drug lord Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), the actor raised his thoughts about the devastating situation.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Is it basic instincts?
As documented by ITV, Jimmi shared it is always hard for parents to be caught up in choosing between their children, especially in a startling occurrence.
When asked about his decision to save Asha (Tanisha Gorey) first than Aadi (Adam Hussain), Jimmi answered Dev has to save Asha first because both his character and Asha are unconscious after the accident. When Dev gets conscious, Asha is not responding, whereas Aadi is wide awake and able to talk.
It is just really heartbreaking that after Dev Alahan pulls out Asha, the car explodes before he comes back to save Aadi. Jimmi clarified it is not about favoritism, for it is an understanding of who needs the most help during that time.
In previous episodes, everyone knows Dev has been paying more attention to Asha than her twin brother because of her constant involvement in trouble. He also shared that if it happened the other way around, Dev would have also focused on the well-being of Aadi than Asha.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Dev Alahan Is A devoted Father
Jimmi declared his love for his character as a single dad in the soap. However, it would have been better for his children to grow up with a mother figure, but Dev learned to deal with problems with his son and daughter and he has devoted his life to them.
When asked if Dev Alahan feels guilty for leaving Aadi in the car, the 56-year-old actor said that his character doesn’t feel guilty but is devastated about what his son is going through. “Dev wishes it was him and wishes he could take his son’s place. It’s an honest pain that he feels,” he said.
Jimmi Harkishin also shared that this scene is one of his favorites, but finds it very challenging. He commended his stunt guy and the people behind the camera for doing a great job in producing such jaw-dropping scenes.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Adam Hussain Reveals Aadi Alahan Resents Father Dev And Sister Asha
The Alahan twins have also shared their thoughts regarding the devastating scene with Dev Alahan’s decision to first save Asha rather than Aadi.
As documented by Metro, Tanisha Gorey hinted that if her on-screen character, Asha Alahan, survives the incident, she will feel guilty about what will happen to Aadi.
“She needed to be dragged out of the car but once she sees the state of him, it’s heartbreaking – there are so many what ifs. No one knows what is going to happen to him,” she said.
Whereas Adam Hussain revealed that Aadi Alahan resents his father when Dev told him to help himself and saves Asha first in the burning car.

“That’s a catalyst moment for Aadi because Dev has always preferred his sister. He’s always treated her better than him. That’s the tipping point of building up his resentment for him – and a little bit for his sister as well,” Adam stated.
As the only one who can save them, Dev is in a tight spot as a father, especially when the lives of his children are put at risk.
The Corrie production revealed that Aadi will still be rushed to the hospital after the incident. However, as part of Super Soap Week, the show will kill one character.
