Coronation Street Sally Dynevor Receives MBE Honor After 36 Years On ITV Soap

Sally DynevorCoronation Street star Sally Dynevor has received her MBE Honor at the Windsor Castle on Wednesday, February 2, for playing her staple character Sally Webster in the long-running ITV Soap for 36 years.

Sally was one of the invited recipients, including emergency workers, military officers, and teachers recognized and endowed by Princess Anne for their service in the Covid-19 pandemic. The soap star was given the honor for her services to drama and entertainment for being on the cobbles since 1986.

The mother-of-three sported the prestigious event with a black suit paired with a buttoned-up white blouse and completed her look with a matching fascinator on the right side of her hair. Her husband Tim Dynevor in a navy suit accompanied her and was all smiles in their photo snaps while his wife held up the red ribbon award.

Sally revealed that she wrongly thought of the MBE email as a “hoax” if not for her son’s reassurance. The BBC reported that Sally rang her son Sam about her achievement for she thought it “can’t be right” for her name to be in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 2020, in which Sam validated no one would “joke” about such serious matter.

Sally also revealed she’s up for more years in the soap and is looking forward to what the writers have in store for her character for the next 10 years.

Aside from her role in Corrie, she has also joined ITV’s “Dancing on Ice” which took her three years before finally committing due to her fear of attaining injuries, and it was the pandemic that caused her to reflect about going out of her comfort zone. She also revealed that the princess talked about how “very dangerous” was it seemed to be on the ice skating rink.

Despite Sally’s fears, she survived the first two eliminations with her 45-year-old professional partner Matt Evers who jokingly hailed their pairing as the “golden oldies” of the show.

Since then, the pair have always held hands but Evers hinted that Sally is up to do skating alone in their next stint. In his interview with The Sun, he revealed that Sally will take a “huge step” as they apply the advice from the judges.

“We will be doing something different from what everybody is used to. It will have a great vibe,” he teased.
