Emma Brooker recently became aware of her fiancé’s real condition. Despite Curtis’ (Sam Retford) Factitious Disorder, the bride-to-be promised to support the love of her life but was left uncertain if she’s still doing the right thing.
During her exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Mardell revealed how her character felt after knowing Curtis’ disorder, “She’s devastated. Curtis is her everything–he’s the prince that she has been looking for. It’s just so typical for Emma that something has gone wrong.”

“It’s just such a shame because she believes this is the one, so she’s devastated, but I think she’s willing to do anything to try and make it work,” she continued.
Mardell also unveiled her character’s honesty that Emma shares about Curtis’ condition to Amy (Elle Mulvaney), which surprised the latter and questions Emma’s wedding decision. Despite Amy’s hesitations, Emma is still willing to pursue her dream wedding.
When asked if she already knew Curtis’ storyline, Mardell revealed she didn’t entirely know about the story but sure enough about the troubles along the way, especially that her on-screen partner will be late on their wedding day, “There’s definitely doubt for Emma over whether Curtis will turn up because it’s supposed to be the bride that’s late, isn’t it? So, there’s already something that has gone wrong.”

“Coronation Street’s” Emma Brooker was not fortunate enough when it comes to her love life until she met Curtis. Alexandra Mardell shared why her character has been unlucky when it comes to love. She revealed Emma expects too much and falls in love quickly with the wrong person.
She even advised her character to “stay single” and wait for the one who will love her in the same amount in return. When asked about the perfect partner for Emma, the 28-year-old actress stated Curtis is the one for her, and claimed that her past relationship with David (Jack P. Shepherd) and Chesney (Sam Aston) will just not work.
Mardell also shared her pink-themed Christmas wedding in the soap, “It was like being at Disneyland – it gave me a bit of a headache! There was also so much pink – extreme pink! It was crazy.”
Comparing her own from Emma’s, she stated both weddings are the complete opposite. She also gave her opinion on her character’s wedding dress, “It was the first one that I tried on.
