Coronation Street Spoilers: Connor McIntyre Imagines Returning To The Cobble’s As Pat’s Twin Brother

Coronation Street: Connor McIntyre Coronation Street spoilers and updates tease that if Connor McIntyre returned to the soap, he’d want to play Pat Phelan’s hypothetical twin brother, Matt.

Viewers may recall that McIntyre joined the soap twice between 2013 and 2018. He left the show when Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) stabbed his character. In an interview with Inside Soap, the actor revealed that he’d love to return to the cobbles but not as Pat, but as a kinder and nicer character Matt, the twin brother of his previous character.

The actor said, “the actor in me goes, ‘Wow, there’s a challenge.’” If that happens, the people in the cobbles would despise Pat Phelan’s twin brother. What about Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), Pat’s former wife? How would she react? “What if Matt was a genuinely nice guy?” he teased.

“It would take an awful lot of courage from the team on the show, but what a shocker,” he added.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Going Beyond Expectation

The actor revealed that his character wasn’t meant to become one of the most talked-about characters in Coronation Street. It went beyond his expectation, the actor said.

McIntyre added that he was only supposed to be with the show for three episodes.

“I’d have known at the beginning that we were going to create this villain, it would have been quite daunting!” he explained.

He said he “couldn’t have asked for more.” He always thought that they were pushing the boundaries every time he received his scripts. He was pleased with how his character turned out, even though some viewers complained that the storylines have become too dark.

McIntyre also shared how some fans kept on reminding him of the awful things that his character has done on the show. One fan asked if he recalled diddling Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) out of the roof tiles. Others kept on asking if Phelan really loved Eileen.

McIntyre has a Masters degree in fine art. Since leaving the soap, he’s been busy working in his studio. He’s let a glimpse into his world by sharing some of his masterpieces on social media. The actor recently appeared in Ackley Bridge and set to team up with Brian Capron and John Altman for Wonderbirds Live on June 28 at the Duchess Theatre in London.
