Coronation Street Spoilers: David Platt Finds New Love After Split From Shona?

On “Coronation Street,” it seems like David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) is going to have a new love interest after his wife, Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) demanded a divorce. The sudser hint that David would be paired up with Alison Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) but viewers have to wait in see how far they’re willing to go.

It all starts after David learns that Shona wants a divorce. Still reeling from the heartbreak, he turns to the bottle and he’ll have his eyes on Alina Pop in Victoria Gardens. He’ll offer her a beer and start flirting. There’s an obvious connection between the two and he even manages to convince her to take the afternoon off from work so they could spend time together.

David Platt has been constantly left devastated following the shooting of his wife by Derek Milligan (Craig Ells) last Christmas. The incident left her in a coma and when she woke up, she’d suffered from memory loss and cannot remember who David was. Worse of all, Shona mistook Max Turner (Harry McDermott) for Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison).

He tried his best to help his wife remember. He even played recordings of Max and Lily Platt (Brooke Malonie), and showed her their wedding album. But it didn’t work. This week, he’ll find out that Shona doesn’t want to see him. Plus, he learns that she’s been getting in touch with her son Clayton.

He’ll will confront Clayton in prison next week and tell him to back off. But the latter will enjoy David’s misery and promise that he’ll never give in to what he wants. David will confide in Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Gail Platt (played by Helen Worth). Later, Nick will try to talk to Shona but the latter will refuse to see him as well. David will then learn that Shona wants to divorce him.

Will David make a huge mistake of sleeping with Alina? Is he willing to go that far, knowing that it would destroy his marriage?

Shepherd’s Reaction To New Storyline

“David is on a downward spiral, so when he sees Alina in Victoria Gardens, they strike up a friendship because they are both vulnerable at the moment,” Shepherd said.

“Later, Seb thinks something is going on between David and Alina and he is jealous. David puts on a bravado and he is goading Seb to hit him and Seb punches David in the face,” he continued.

When asked if David has feelings for Alina, the actor said no. He admitted that it’s a rebound because it’s Shona he really wants.
