Corrie viewers are enjoying the bumpy ride of Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) in their journey to giving each other a chance for romance.
Weatherfield’s local funeral director George has made it clear he fancies Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) mother Eileen. Fans need not be reminded how clumsy George is with his moves, especially when Todd acted as their matchmaker, but he forgot to remove the “Rest In Peace” tag on the flowers he got from the funeral parlor.
George recently got another matchmaker in the person of Sean (Antony Cotton) to persuade Eileen to have a date with him, but he wasted another chance yet again.
Happening in the next episodes, George informs Eileen that Todd laid his head in the funeral parlor when his evil crimes were finally exposed. George tells Eileen she needs to give her son a break after she asked her to leave their house.
Later, George asks Eileen if she wants to share dinner at the bistro, and the mother shyly agrees.

But just when George gets his hopes up, Eileen crushes them to the ground, when he overhears her telling Mary (Patti Clare) that George’s work of handling the dead for a living is clouding her decision about dating him.
Feeling insulted, George cancels the date and informs Eileen through a text message. Furious that her date stood her up, Eileen confronts George but is left baffled when George reveals he heard her comment about his job.
Will Eileen make it up to George? Or is this the end of their blossoming relationship?
