Coronation Street Spoilers: Emma Brooker’s Heartbreaking Discovery

“Coronation Street” has aired its heartbreaking episode where the bride-to-be Emma Brooker finds out her groom Curtis hasn’t been truthful about his identity.

Corrie viewers were on the edge of their seats when Emma (Alexandra Mardell) discovered the key to unlocking all of her fiancé’s secrets. Curtis (Sam Retford) previously heard his diagnosis with his doctor prescribed him to go see a psychologist as he’s not physically ill, instead, he’s suffering from a mental issue.

Although Curtis found out he has a Factitious Disorder, a serious mental disorder in which a person deceives others by pretending to be sick, he didn’t come clean to Emma especially because their wedding day nears.

But tonight’s (December 14) episode saw Emma returning from the hospital after Ruby (Macy Alabi) grabbed Curtis’ medicine box and took one pill. A terrified Tyrone (Alan Hallsal) was comforted when Emma reassured him there’s nothing to worry about as his child swallowed a vitamin tablet, rather than a serious medication for the heart.

Tyrone was calmed while Emma’s world started crumbling as she can’t fathom why Curtis has been lying to her. Will the bride run away?

Emma, who was only a step closer to unlocking the truth, even made up a cover story to explain the medicine mixed up but when Curtis returned feigning his exhaustion, pointed out that he completed the Three Peaks challenge, Emma was triggered.

She confronted her beau and demanded an explanation for the medicine. Will she get the answer she needed? Or will Curtis get away with another lie?

Curtis is shocked that his bride has caught him red-handed and when she asked her for an explanation, he gets away with his crime by telling her he opted for another medicine solution.

In upcoming scenes, Curtis explains he’s been experiencing intolerable side effects with his previous pills that he transitioned to a homeopathic replacement instead. Curtis then guilt trips Emma, telling her he’s disappointed with her unbelief while he’s dying. Will Emma trust his latest version?

In a previous interview with the media, Corrie actor Sam Retford confirmed that Curtis’ feelings for Emma are genuine as the character feels he can be authentic to her.

“I think she taught him who that was in him. So yes, it’s definitely an authentic adoration,” he told Digital Spy.

“But it’s really difficult. I think he got far too deep. She taught him so much about himself, but just a bit too late,” he added.

Can Emma still forgive Curtis? Will Curtis overcome this challenge or is he a hopeless case?
