There’s already a huge gap between the two as the rebellious student Max Turner (Paddy Bever) almost jeopardized the teacher’s job at Weatherfield High School when he accused Daniel (Rob Mallard) of sharing an inappropriate relationship with his teen crush Summer (Harriet Bibby). Max even humiliated Daniel at last Christmas’s caroling contest, oblivious to the fact that it was the teacher who saved him from being kicked out at school.
For a while, there was a truce between them when Max had another victim by looking at an upskirting photo who later turned out to be actually Summer. Her friend, Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) made sure that people behind the sexual harassment will pay for it and the viewers saw her leading protest in their school. The protest produced excellent results which saw the students attending consent workshops, but Max skipped it again.
The truce between Daniel and Max will be soon over as Dan mentions Max’s stepdad’s horrible past.
‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – Confronting The Past
In upcoming episodes, Daniel touches on David’s (Jack P Shepherd) traumatic rape experience while talking to Max about the consent workshops.
In 2018 David became the soap’s first male rape victim when he was drugged and sexually assaulted by the then-newcomer Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton), which generated over 100 complaints to Ofcom.
With his curiosity piqued, Max quizzes his stepfather about what truly happened to him, which angers David towards Daniel for putting him in a difficult situation of remembering his past. Daniel’s nightmare starts later in the week when Max sympathizes with his father and blames the teacher for bringing up that trouble again.
‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – Taking Revenge
Daniel gets home to his wrecked place, but it doesn’t compare to the pain and anger he feels when he sees a very sentimental thing broken. The furious teacher catches Max red-handed breaking Bertie, Sinead’s (Katie McGlynn), and his imprints, and in his anger, he shoves the teen out of the door, but things turn upside down for him when Max trips down the stairs all the way to the floor and lies there unconscious.
‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – Will Max Turner Survive The Fall? Will Daniel Osbourne Be Sent To Prison?
Corrie producer Iain MacLeod already announced that Daniel and David will have a long feud into the future, which has a clan warfare vibe. MacLeod even teased that the pair has the potential to be the soap’s next Ken and Mike.
“Having these two actors in big, angry emotional scenes, where both have a smart mouth and are quite witty, it’s dynamite and I can’t believe we haven’t done it before. The moment I saw them going at it, I thought: ‘This has got legs.’” he told Digital Spy.
With Max’s life in danger, Daniel is soon to taste David’s revenge. Will he be ready to taste hell?
