Gemma has been struggling financially and believes that working for Henry is her best option. However, Chesney doesn’t like the idea of Gemma reconnecting with her former love interest.
As Gemma begins her new job, she tells Chesney that she will be working in a different department.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Who Is Henry Newton?
Henry Newton is a rich guy that Gemma met before. At first he pretended to pursue her over a bet with friends, but Henry fell in love with her for real.
When Henry was ready to be serious about it, Chesney revealed everything to Gemma. Henry promised he will return and try to win Gemma back.
As Gemma’s family experiences financial problems, she approached Jenny Connor for additional shifts at The Rovers. But Jenny doesn’t have extra budget for that, so she recommended that she reach out to Henry Newton for help.
Although Henry hasn’t been seen on the show since 2018, his tumultuous relationship with Gemma is set to be revisited.

Jenny suggested that Gemma contact Henry Newton, despite their complicated past, as he may have job openings available.
“I know how difficult this might be, and trust me, I wouldn’t waste any breath on the man. But you could call Henry Newton,” Jenny told her.
“If you could put your history to one side, I know he’s got a few places that are understaffed.”
When Chesney heard about Jenny’s suggestion, he scoffed and said, “Like he’s going to give you a job after everything that happened. Gemma, we got the guy a beating.”
Gemma wondered whether Chesney was just jealous over the idea of her working for her ex-boyfriend, but Chesney denied it. Gemma secretly left a voicemail on Henry’s phone and told him she was looking for work.
